‘Heart for Athletes’ tackling cardiac arrest in young athletes

The organization, Heart for Athletes, is on an important mission to protect young people from sudden cardiac arrest.

The organization was started in 2014 by the friends and family of Sam Cockrell, from Daphne, AL.  In 2013, at the age of 16, Sam was a seemingly healthy elite triathlete who unexpectedly suffered from sudden cardiac arrest. After his survival and the extensive testing that followed, Sam was subsequently diagnosed with a rare heart condition.
