February is American Heart Month. Here are some statistics to remind you how important our life saving work is:
- Heart disease is the leading cause of death across the world.
- The survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest is less than 10%.
- 1 in 300 youth have an undiagnosed heart disease.
- Each minute that goes by without being shocked by an AED decreases chances of survival 10%.
We are so proud of the work we do, but know that there is still a long way to go!
We donated two AEDs this past month with our friends from Microboard to Trumbull High School and St. Joseph High School. We are up to 238 AEDS donated and many more to come soon. Additionally, we hosted a FREE Cardiac Screening event and provided over 200 electrocardiograms (ECGs) to youth. Thank you to the DiRocco family for their time and dedication to make this happen.
